‘Gotham’ Season 2 Episode 14: This Ball Of Mud And Meaness | TV Review
The centrepiece of this episode is a dialogue-focused showdown between Bruce (David Mazouz) and Matches Malone (Michael Bowen). Batman is traditionally defined by his aversion to murder, and the origins of that stance is on show here.
With every week Mazouz’s performance cements his portrayal of the young Bruce Wayne and I hope Gotham continues long enough for him to become Batman.
The tense scene is written well with clear character motivations. The visual imagery also added to the tension. Bruce makes a decision that is sure to lead to some interesting future developments.
The rest of the episode is also strong with an entertaing Lori Petty cameo as Jeri, a singer with some interesting make-up. Corey Michael Smith’s Ed is transitioning ever closer to full-blown Riddler-ness. And in Arkham Hugo Strange (BD Wong) sets his villainous peices into play.
