Matt Smith To Star As Prince Phillip In Netflix Period Drama ‘The Crown’ | TV News
Evening Express has released information confirming that Netflix has commissioned a period drama film starring Ex-Doctor Who star Matt Smith, in which he is to play a young Prince Phillip. Written by Peter Morgan (Who also wrote 2006 film The Queen) and produced by Left Bank Pictures, in association with Sony Pictures Television for Netflix, filming for The Crown will begin at Balmoral Castle in the North-East on the 19th of July.
The Crown will tell the inside story of Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street, based on the acclaimed play The Audience, which in its’ run was also written by Morgan and starred Dame Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II. Each season of the drama will cover each decade of the Queens reign.
