With Netflix being responsible for the highly successful Orange is The New Black and House of Cards, it’s no surprise that they are anticipating to double their original creations within the next year. For now though, they have released the first official trailer for their upcoming series entitled The Crown – which will tell the story of Queen Elizabeth II’s (Claire Foy) early reign and her marriage to war commander Philip Moutbattern, played by Matt Smith.

Taking place after World War II, the series will also focus around the Queen’s conflict with Winston Churchill, played by John Lithgow. Set for release in 2016, the series will consist of 13 episodes; which have been written by Frost/Nixon and The Queen writer Peter Morgan. The series will also star Greg Wise (Lord Louis Mountbatten), Vanessa Kirby (Princess Margaret), Jared Harris (George VI) and Eileen Atkins (Queen Mary).
