‘The Crown’ Season 3 Reveals First Image Of Tobias Menzies As Prince Philip | TV News

With the new season undergoing filming, Netflix has released the first character image for Prince Philip. The picture shows a suave Tobias Menzies (Outlander) in the role of the cheeky and rebellious Duke Of Edinburgh.

The Crown season 3 will focus on the years 1964-1976 and has already recast all of its main characters due to the time jump. Olivia Colman will be the new face of Queen Elizabeth II, while Helena Bonham Carter is set to play the lively and troubled Queen Margaret.

Some images from the new season have already been made available on the series’ official twitter page, showing some of the actors in character.

Since the first two season dealt with Queen Elizabeth’s rise to the throne and her ruling over the first half of the century, the new one will probably see a more relaxed Elizabeth, dealing less with politics and more with the equally hard task of raising her children.

However, rumors give Gillian Anderson in as the fierce Prime Minister Margaret Tatcher, so we can expect some biting and barking here and there between the two women, who were always rumored to have had a conflicting relationship.

Menzies will also join Ben Daniels, who will take over the role of Margaret’s husband, Antony Armstrong-Jones, and Josh O’Connor (God’s Own Country) already been cast as a young Prince Charles.
