Watch The First Trailer For ‘Woodshock’ Starring Kirsten Dunst | Film Trailer

It seems like forever since Kirsten Dunst was playing Mary Jane in Sam Raimi‘s Spiderman films. Since then she’s expanded her repertoire to include challenging roles in Lars Von Trier‘s Melancholia and Jeff NicholsMidnight Special. It looks like there’s another one to add to the list, as the first trailer for the enticing Woodshock has debuted with Dunst in a starring role.

The film is about “a woman grieving over the death of her mother with the use of a particularly heavy and affecting cannabinoid drug”, and the trippy visuals and melancholic yet mysterious aesthetic give off a vibe similar to much of Von Trier’s work, though Woodshock is directed by Kate and Laura Mulleavy, making their feature film debut. The film also stars Joe Cole and Pilou Asbæk.

The film is produced by A24, who have been hitting their releases out of the park recently with such hits as Moonlight, The Witch and Ex Machina. This looks to be another unique, subversive experience from a production company who are struggling to put a foot wrong right now.

Woodshock arrives in cinemas Friday, September 15.
