According to a survey conducted by PiplSay on more than 30,000 Americans and published in TMZ on April 8, 46% of them would be willing to vote for actor Dwayne Johnson if he were to run for president in 2024.
The Rock shared this information in an Instagram post last Sunday with the caption “Humbling, I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club – but if it ever happens it’d be my honour to serve you, the people”.
The former wrestler’s political ambition is not new. Back in 2017, Johnson told Variety magazine, “I have a deep commitment to our country and a deep respect for our people (…) I’m in a position right now where I can have an impact”.
Last month, the actor also announced that he would run for office if it was “what the people wanted”.
“I would consider a presidential run in the future if that’s what the people wanted”, he told USA Today. “Truly I mean that, and I’m not flippant in any way with my answer. That would be up to the people… So I would wait, and I would listen. I would have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”
The PiplSay poll asked 30,138 people to give their opinions on which celebrities they would like to see in the White House. The Rock scored highly with 46% of the votes, as did Angelina Jolie with 30%, Oprah Winfrey with 27%, and Tom Hanks with 22%.
