DMX Finished His New Album Before His Death | Music News

Hospitalized for a week after a heart attack, his relatives announced the death of 50-year-old rap icon DMX on Friday. In a statement, his family said he had been “A warrior who fought till the very end […] Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever”.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, began his career in the 1980s, while he was incarcerated, before achieving success, with three hugely successful albums, It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood, and … And Then There Was X, which where followed by five other studio albums.

As the hip-hop world mourns the death of DMX, Ruff Ryders Entertainment co-founder Darrin Dean announced on Fox 5 New York that his new album had been fully recorded.

During the spring of 2020, the two men reportedly locked themselves in a motorhome in Nashville, Tennessee, and would have stayed there for several months while recording the project. Dean even announces that this final album is one of DMX’s best albums.

For the occasion, DMX was back with Def Jam, his label with whom he had already released five albums, the last being Undisputed in 2012. Several big features were also announced for the album including Pop Smoke, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, and Usher.

The release date is still unknown but we are already looking forward to the album.
