“Ain’t no need of stoppin’ girl,” because Justin Timberlake got the “Supplies” – the second single from his upcoming Man of the Woods. The accompanying visuals unveil a gloomy post-apocalyptic world with several references to the recent scandals.
Directed by Dave Meyers (Camila Cabello “Havana“, Kendrick Lamar “Humble“), the music video feels like a short sci-fi thriller with Eiza González (Baby Driver) as the lead role. Pharrell Williams, who produced the track, also makes an appearance.
Starting with multiple TV screens blaring such headlines as “The Future Is Female”, “Teach Kindness, Not Killing”, “End Racism Now”, “Me Too”, faces of Donald Trump as well as Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, who were recently involved in sexual harassment scandals, and ending with a little child looking straight to the camera and urging to “leave” and “die already” – the politically-charged video is addressing many social issues.
The single follows the groovy track “Filthy“, which was released earlier this month alongside the futuristic Mark Romanek video starring a filthy dancing robot. JT promised four videos from four different directors until February 2, when the whole album drops. Man of the Woods will be the first since The 20/20 Experience and The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2 from 2013.
