It’s hard to remember any other Marvel film, which earned that much hype as the Black Panther. In only four days after the release, it makes history: the film is the largest opening film in February ever. In addition, its soundtrack album hits the number one in Billboard 200.
It is not the only record, that Black Panther broke last 4-days weekend (including President’s Day) in North America. Just to mention a few more: the film became the second-best Sunday opening, the fifth largest opening weekend ever (after Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Jurassic World and The Avengers) and the highest grossing film by a black director.
Black Panther: The Album, curated by Kendrick Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment, has also hit big this weekend – it’s the second soundtrack album to reach No. 1 on Billboard 200 this year, following The Greatest Showman. Featuring Jorja Smith, Vince Staples, Future, James Blake and many more great artists, it is also the fourth Kendrick’s album to reach the top spot.
In case you somehow haven’t seen the film yet, watch the trailer below and head to the nearest cinema!
