Colombian designer Adriana Santacruz opened the latest edition of Bogotá Fashion Week with her new collection.
She unveiled her new prêt-à-porter collection for Autumn/Winter 2018, titled ‘La Ruana‘ and it’s inspired by times “past, present and future“. She has been working on her collection for two decades with alongside the indigenous communities in her area.
She presented an ethical and environmental catwalk with clothes made by cotton and wool that was dyed with natural plants such as chilca, mint, elderberry and calendula.
“The preparation for all catwalks implies fully coordinated teamwork. There are many details that should have a common thread so that the staging comes out impeccable so our main objective is always to create synergy among all of us involved in the show. My main function, in this case, is to have all the perfect pieces, all the defined looks and determine all their details with extreme delicacy”, she said.
Also, she talked about her new collection: “This is the launch of a collection whose garments are an artistic composition, achieved through language and affinity with the fabric. It is a reflection of Adriana Santacruz’s identity, evolving into visual patterns that break paradigms in the art of dressing”.
“By fusing the different fabric techniques used, a perfect balance is achieved, where simplicity and complexity are the factors that determine the design line”.
