Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Siaira Shawn has dropped a new track titled “Wolf”. The groovy poignant tune serves as the lead single taken from her latest EP Tender.
Produced by Mars Today (Kyle Dion, Rayana Jay, Jahkoy, Destin Conrad), and Blake Straus, “Wolf” combines Siaira’s signeture silky vocals and funky bass line with raw relatable lyrics. The track accurately sums up the complicated side of casual relationships.
Raising R&B singer Siaira Shawn specialises in writing personal, introspective love songs about women. While the theme doesn’t seem particularly unconventional at the first glance, it becomes more interesting when it’s introduced by a member of a marginalized minority.
“As a queer artist I make that aspect of my identity explicit in my music and media because even as it has become more acceptable to be queer in music, we are still marginalized and need more authentic representation”, the artist said.
Siaira’s songwriting abilities didn’t go unnoticed. One of her tracks, “Wrong Speed“, featured in the soundtrack for HBO comedy-drama series Insecure. Now, the vocalist is back with a new single and EP. Executive produced by Mars Today, Tender landed on September 24 via Over Everything and includes such tracks as “Islands” and “Wait For It”.
