Maroon 5 have just unveiled a new music video for their new song “Memories”, which was officially launched last month. The song is about experiencing and suffering loved ones loss and is dedicated to the band’s late manager Jordan Feldstein, the older brother of actors Jonah Hill and Beanie Feldstein. He unexpectedly passed away in December 2017 following a pulmonary embolism.
As frontman Adam Levine said during an interview on the Ellen DeGeneres show, the manager was a close friend of his: “I miss him every day, and this is, to me, the best possible way to tribute him […] I had just gone through losing my manager and my best friend, his song came to me at a very interesting time. I filled in the holes with the proper words that I thought would match the experience of what I had been going through”
The music video is really minimal and features a close-up shot of Adam Levine against a black background. The singer delivers the lyrics of the song while a light illuminates his face, creating changing shadows. The camera slowly pans out, showing the singer’s tattoos and the video ends with the words “For Jordi”, in a handwritten sweet font.
The song is the group’s first new original music since their chart-topping hit “Girls Like You” featuring Cardi B and it anticipates a new project, which will be revealed soon. Watch the video for “Memories” below.
