American dream-pop duo Phantogram are back with a brand-new track called “In A Spiral”. The dark entrancing tune follows the band’s recent singles “Mister Impossible” and “Into Happiness” and is taken from their hotly anticipated upcoming release.
Speaking about Phantogram’s latest offering, band member Sarah Barthel said: “‘In A Spiral’ started from a beat that Josh had in his back pocket for quite some time, which I had gravitated to immediately and written some vocal ideas for. But the song was waiting for the right moment to reveal itself to us…
“We threw it on at the last minute while we were preparing to go record in Joshua Tree at the magical Rancho de la Luna with our friend Boots, and once we got out there everything started to fall into place”.
Phantogram are the New York based duo of Josh Cartel and Sarah Barthel. They dropped their debut album titled Eyelid Movies back in 2010 via Barsuk Records. Since then the band have scored two gold-certified singles with “Fall In Love” and “When I’m Small” and shared the stage with the likes of The XX, Muse, Alt-J and M83.
Have just finished their summer headlining tour across North America, the duo are set to perform at a series of festivals later this year, including Bilbao’s BIME Live, Mexico City’s Corona Capital Festival and San Diego’s Wonderfront Music Festival.
Shortly before the release of Three, Phantogram’s sixth studio album, Barthel’s sister committed suicide. The tragic drew the band’s attention to suicide awareness and prevention. One dollar from the price of each ticket for their forthcoming dates will be donated to the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention.
