Tim McGraw’s “Overrated” is the first track off of his newly released Sundown Heaven Town and is one of my favorites on the record thus far. Although I am extremely partial as the song is written by two of my favorite writers, Shane McAnally and Rivers Rutherford, this track is definitely a jam. Its uplifting lyrics encourage focusing on the love of family and friends and leaving behind the stress and frustrations of the day to day.
The strong banjo and acoustic guitar presence puts this track largely in contrast to today’s popular “bro country” trend. Its sound leans more towards a mix between a 90’s country song and modern day Pop track. Tim McGraw has admitted that this song could be the theme song of his life, so check out “Overrated” here and the rest of Sundown Heaven Town on iTunes to see what you think for yourself.
