London-based Bristol singer Charlotte Lansman has just released her second single “Never Forget”. Produced by Joe Rodwell, the song reflects Charlotte Lansman’s soul, jazz and R&B influences, and is the follow-up to her debut single “Water”, which was released in August.
This is quite an emotional track, thanks to the fusion between the singer’s contralto tones and poetic and personal songwriting.
About the lyrics, the artist explains: “this song is about taking the power back. It’s for every person that has decided not to go quietly into the night – choosing not to be disheartened by someone that strays from the relationship, instead choosing to rise up stronger, knowing that they will never be forgotten”.
Born in Bristol, Charlotte Lansman grew up to an American father and British mother, spending her secondary school in Wales. This blending has resulted in mixed musical influences from country music to 60s and 70s rock music to the likes of Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Tracey Chapman, Nina Simone and Nirvana, as well as an output of soulful and powerful songs.
More music is to expected before the end of the year from Charlotte Lansman, with 2020 set to be a momentous year for the singer-songwriter, with a debut EP projected for 2021. In the meantime, you can listen to the “Never Forget” single below:
