Queen Latifah To Star In Netflix Thriller ‘End Of The Road’ | Film News

Queen Latifah has signed on to star in the Netflix thriller End Of The Road. Millicent Shelton will direct from a script written by David Loughery, while Latifah will also produce.

The film revolves around the recently-widowed Brenda, who decides to drive her family cross-country to start a new life after losing her job. However, while isolated in the desert in New Mexico, the family must band together and learn to fight back when they become targeted by a mysterious killer.

Shelton began her career as a wardrobe production assistant on Spike Lee‘s Do The Right Thing, before going on to helm 1998’s Ride and episodes of Black-ish, The Walking Dead, 30 Rock and Insecure, just to name a few over the years.

Loughery has penned similar thrillers such as The Intruder and Obsessed in the past, but this script will be based on Christopher Moore‘s original screenplay.

Latifah hasn’t had a role in a film since 2017’s acclaimed comedy Girls Trip, although she did play Hattie McDaniel in Ryan Murphy‘s recent mini-series Hollywood, which was also a Netflix project.

She’s usually cast in supporting roles nowadays, so it will be great to see her lead a film in a genre she hasn’t dabbled in much.

Latifah’s next film is also a Netflix production, as she has a supporting role in the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy, Hustle.
