Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) has signed on to star in the series adaptation of Ben Mezrich‘s action-adventure book Seven Wonders.
Justin Lin (F9) will direct the series from a script written by Adam Cozad (The Legend of Tarzan, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit). The show is being developed for Amazon Prime Video.
Liu will star in the series as Dr. Nate Grady, a botanist and adventurer who teams up with Sloane Seydoux, an international fixer, on a perilous journey to solve an ancient mystery tied directly to the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The premise is described as being reminiscent to the swashbuckling adventures of Indiana Jones.
The show is currently in early development so there aren’t any further details, but this is one of a number of projects Liu has signed on for after his MCU debut was such a success. Not only is he on board for that film’s sequel, but he will also appear in Greta Gerwig‘s upcoming Barbie movie.
Liu is also attached to star alongside Mark Wahlberg in adventure film Arthur The King, lead romance film One True Loves with Phillipa Soo, and play a villainous role in Atlas opposite Jennifer Lopez. This is the kind of career bump you get nowadays following a successful introduction as a Marvel superhero.
Lin should be a smart choice to helm an adventure-based series like this, having directed multiple Fast & Furious movies as well as Star Trek Beyond. He was recently tapped to helm One Punch Man, a film adaptation of the hit manga series.
Seven Wonders is currently in early stages of development, so there’s no set release date at this time.
