On August 18, 2023, the dynamic duo Flagship Romance, comprised of the talented married couple Shawn Fisher and Jordyn Jacks, released their evocative track titled “Imposter.”
Dubbed by the pair as their “toxic lullaby,” the song draws inspiration from the well-documented feeling of self-doubt known as imposter syndrome.
Through a tapestry of unsettling and aggressive undertones interspersed with soaring harmonies, the track captures the essence of what the Oxford dictionary defines as “a persistent inability to believe that one’s success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of one’s own efforts or skills.”
Collaborating once more with the Grammy award-winning producer and musician, Lee Miles Buchanan, the synergy was undeniable. Reflecting on the creative process, the duo shared, “We just went in full-steam ahead. We felt deeply connected, knowing we were all in sync.
Lee was in his element, perfecting tones, mastering piano segments, and weaving a rich, vivid, and tantalizing sonic atmosphere that complemented the lyrics exquisitely, akin to the elegance of a Met Gala gown. For a track so profound in its intensity, its creation was a pure delight.”
Over the years, Flagship Romance has had the honor of supporting and sharing stages with iconic acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Half Moon Run, Andrew McMahon, and Iris Dement. They’ve also graced esteemed platforms like the Kerrville Folk Festival, Cayamo Music Cruise, and Mile of Music Festival.
