Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2025 show was a grand event held at Antoni Gaudí’s Hypostyle Room in Park Güell, Barcelona. This setting added a magical touch to the collection, reflecting the city’s rich cultural heritage. Nicolas Ghesquière, Louis Vuitton’s women’s creative director, marked his tenth year with the brand by blending classic elegance with modern style.
The collection showcased a beautiful balance of Spanish influences and contemporary fashion. Ghesquière explained, “I wanted to respect the place we are. I love that this country evokes a certain groundedness and some rigor, and in the meantime it’s about freedom, it’s about youngness, it’s about extravagance somehow.”
Opening looks featured straight-cut, slightly oversized blazer dresses paired with tilted hats. These were followed by tops with ruched detailing and caped elements, adding a playful touch. Pants and billowing skirts with warped detailing further highlighted Ghesquière’s skill in manipulating shapes and textures. His use of various fabrics and textures has long been a signature of his work.
Before the show, Louis Vuitton hosted a charming welcome dinner at La Fábrica. This venue, originally a cement factory, was transformed into the offices of architect Ricardo Bofill in the 1970s. The dinner, surrounded by candlelights and flowers, set a warm, inviting tone for the upcoming event.
Louis Vuitton is known for holding its Cruise shows in stunning architectural sites. Past venues include the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum in Rio de Janeiro and the Salk Institute in San Diego. This time, Park Güell’s whimsical design provided a perfect backdrop for the collection.
The guest list was star-studded, featuring celebrities like Ana de Armas, Felix from Stray Kids, Jennifer Connelly, Regina King, Sophie Turner, Phoebe Dynevor, Jaden Smith, Cynthia Erivo, Saoirse Ronan, Shay Mitchell, and Naomi Osaka. Their presence added glamour to the already enchanting event.
On the runway, Spanish culture was evident in every piece. Black and white polka dot fabrics mimicked flamenco dancers’ dresses, while black lace and trousers with Gaudí-inspired tile patterns added a local touch. Spanish sombreros topped off many outfits, emphasizing the cultural influence.
Ghesquière’s exploration of volume and structure stood out in this collection. He used black, white, and neutral tones to create striking silhouettes. His designs brought a sense of architectural precision to fashion, much like Gaudí’s work in architecture.
