George Lucas, creator of the legendary space saga Star Wars has revealed why he decided to leave his creation in a galaxy far, far away by selling it to Disney in October 2012. With Episode VII: The Force Awakens less than a month away, Lucas has remained in the background of director J.J Ambram’s creation; meaning it should be Lucas free zone.
Speaking in an interview, Lucas explained: “you go to make a movie and all you do is get criticised, and people try to make decisions about what you’re going to do before you do it and it’s not much fun. You can’t experiment. You have to do it a certain way. I don’t like that, I never did. I started out in experimental films and I want to go back to experimental films.”
It seems this justification is based on the criticism he received for Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith; which mostly derived from unfulfilled plots, poor character development and the insufferable Jar Jar Binks.
