Today most people associate the name Kardashian with TV-shows, books, selfies, and internet-breaking photo shoots. Back in 1994-1995, the name was however closely associated with lawyer Robert Kardashian who skyrocketed his family to fame, after serving as O.J. Simpson’s defence attorney in the now-infamous murder trial.
Now, Kardashian’s ex-wife, Kris Jenner will be reliving that intense period when The People V. O.J. Simpson debuts next month. Speaking on a panel during the NATPE Television convention in Miami, Jenner revealed that she was “excited and anxious” – for very understandable reasons. “I want to see how it turns out. I heard it’s really well done”.
Reflecting on the trial, she revealed that it was “a very dramatic, sad, crazy time in my life and something that was tremendously difficult to go through. It will be kind of weird to watch it on TV as someone who lived that whole thing”.
Seeing an emotional and distressing period of your life play out on television for other people’s entertainment must feel very surreal. The whole thing must be even more heart-wrenching for her, since she was close friends with Nicole Brown Simpson.
Not only will she be reliving all those emotions, but she will be seeing herself and husband Robert Kardashian on the small screen, who will be played Selma Blair and David Schwimmer, respectively. Her children, Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob will also play a small part in the upcoming crime series.
Jenner spoke about meeting Blair and Schwimmer, and being given the opportunity to offer her own input on an important part of her life. “Selma’s great,” she said. “I hope she’s done a really good job in bringing it home. She’s such a talented actress”.
Schwimmer was the one to reach out to her, something Jenner appreciated immensely. “Him and I spent hours on the phone,” she revealed. “He more or less wanted to know about Robert as a person. He was really interested in that and I really appreciated that. I wanted to give him some insight on that”.
Jenner also noted that fans of the wildly popular Keeping up with the Kardashians probably aren’t that clued in and familiar with the case. While, the series will show a different kind of Kardashian fame, it will undoubtedly be an enlightening experience for fans of the hit reality show – and offer them some insight into the family’s history.
