Alexander Skarsgård has signed on to star in Infinity Pool, a sci-fi thriller to be directed by Brandon Cronenberg (Possessor). The plot revolves around a rich, young couple who take a holiday to an all-inclusive resort surrounded by beautiful beaches. But outside of the hotel gates, beyond the edge of paradise, something much more dangerous and seductive lurks.
NEON and Topic Studios will co-finance the film, which will mark Cronenberg’s second collaboration with NEON after Possessor, which is a genuinely incredible film. NEON are also teaming with Topic on Spencer, Pablo Larrain‘s upcoming film that will star Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana.
With Possessor and Antiviral, Cronenberg has lived up to his family name and quickly established himself as a major name to watch in sci-fi horror. Hopefully Infinity Pool can continue the impressive start to his filmmaking career. Fingers crossed that more plot details trickle through before production begins in early September.
Skarsgård was recently seen in Godzilla vs. Kong and the limited series based on Stephen King‘s epic, The Stand. He’ll next be seen in the third season of Succession and and will star in Robert Eggers‘ historical thriller The Northman alongside Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy and Willem Dafoe, which is due next April.
Other upcoming NEON films include the new film by Brandon’s father, David Cronenberg, titled Crimes Of The Future. They also have The Actor starring Ryan Gosling, and Raw director Julia Ducaurnau‘s new film Titane lined up.
