Transparent is coming back! Amazon’s irreverent comedy will return this December for its second season, and the first trailer is full of the wry humour and fragile tenderness that brought show five Emmy Awards and won our hearts. Charting the experiences of Maura Pfefferman, a male to female trans person, the series has proven every bit as harrowing as it is hilarious.
With her family in crisis, Maura struggles to process her own development as her children each capitulate into depression, neuroses, and malaise. Jill Soloway‘s show manages to show the worst of us; the terrible things we can do to those we love, alongside the utopic optimism that we can always change for the better. The series was recently recognised by the White House LGBT Champions of Change, a new organisation for artists promoting LGBT inclusivity and acceptance within the United States, and will be part of President Obama‘s transgender film night hosted at the White House later this month. Check out the official synopsis and trailer for season two below.
Now out of the closet, Maura discovers the hardest part of her transition is still ahead, and faces some very tough, personal decisions about her future. As their secrets surface, the Pfeffermans stumble but persevere, moving closer toward their authentic selves. Transparent stars Jeffrey Tambor, Gabby Hoffman, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass, and Judith Light. Season two will premier on Amazon Prime on December 11.
