American Producer Will Packer Joins In On Oscar Nomination Criticisms | Film News
Will Packer, who has recently worked on the critically acclaimed 2015 movie Straight Outta Compton, has joined the criticisms against the lack of diversity among the 2016 Oscar nominations.
Indeed, the American producer has called out the Academy using the popular hashtag #OscarsSoWhite in his Facebook post, which reads: ‘To my #OscarsSoWhite folks who are angry at the absurd lack of diversity highlighted yet again by this year’s Oscar noms. Trust me, I get it. To my Academy colleagues, WE HAVE TO DO BETTER. Period. The reason the rest of the world looks at us like we have no clue is because in 2016 it’s a complete embarrassment to say that the heights of cinematic achievement have only been reached by white people.’
Packer’s intervention is one of the many that have been made by several Hollywood figures, who hitted at the Oscar for snubbing the minorities, especially in the four acting categories where all the nominees are white.
