After hosting the Brit Awards for two years, dynamic duo Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly (a.k.a Ant & Dec) have confirmed that 2016 will be their third and final year of presenting the spectacle. Set to take place at London’s O2 Arena on 24 February, Adele, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Rihanna and Little Mix are among the artists to perform on the UK’s biggest music awards show.
Speaking to Digital Spy Dec explained that the pair will be too busy with other projects to present next year’s show: “We had such fun last year that we thought, ‘Oh go on, let’s do it one more time’. But this is it. This is definitely it. This beginning of the year bit for us is so busy with Britain’s Got Talent and Saturday Night Takeaway, that it’s too mentally busy for us”.
When asked who they would like to fill their shoes, Ant revealed he thinks Nick Grimshaw would be suitable: “There’s loads of people out there qualified to do it. I think Grimmy would do a good job”. Dec also added that the job is a huge responsibility but a lot of fun: “Whoever does it though, it’s a really fun job to do. It’s nerve-wracking, it’s a bit overwhelming at times, but it’s a huge amount of fun”.
Who do you think could possibly replace the double act? In the meantime, see Ant & Dec return this weekend with Saturday Night Takeaway at 7pm on ITV.
