Ariana Grande Speaks Up After Being Objectified | Music News

Ariana Grande has always been vocal about sexism and women’s objectification, having previously shut down sexist interview questions and called out sexist behaviours, especially those coming from the media. Now, the singer has spoken up once again, after an unsettling encounter with a fan.

Apparently, Grande and her partner, Mac Miller, had a fan approach them during a night out. While he appeared to be all cute at first, he went on to say to Miller, “Ariana is sexy as hell man, I see you, I see you hitting that!” The singer was obviously appalled by his words and decided to share her experience on Twitter, in order to point out that under no circumstances is objectifying women right.

“Hitting that? the f–k?? This may not seem like a big deal to some of you but I felt sick and objectified. I was also sitting right there when he said it. (?) I’ve felt really quiet and hurt since that moment.[sic],” she tweeted.

“I am not a piece of meat that a man gets to utilize for his pleasure. I’m an adult human being in a relationship with a man who treats me with love and respect,” she continued. “I felt like speaking out about this one experience tonight because I know very well that most women know the sensation of being spoken about in an uncomfortable way publicly or taken advantage of publicly by a man”.

Grande’s tweet finished with “We are not objects or prizes. We are QUEENS.” Sounds about right! Read her entire tweet below:

The singer then posted several more tweets celebrating women’s sexuality and condemning those who view it as an excuse for assault. “Expressing sexuality in art is not an invitation for disrespect!!!” she tweeted. See below for Grande’s latest tweets:
