BBC Announces ‘Oliver Twist’ Prequel ‘Dodger’ Starring Christopher Eccleston | TV News

A brand new series is on its way but with a special twist to it. BBC is coming out their new drama series titled Dodger, a series that is inspired by Charles Dickens‘s Oliver Twist bestseller novel.

Regards the premise, the series is set before the events of Oliver Twist. The show will follow the exploits of the pickpocket, the Artful Dodger, one of Oliver Twist’s famous characters, and Fagin’s gang. They will find ingenious ways to survive the grim and exploitative conditions of early Victorian London.

The BBC have also compiled a very good cast for the series, with Christopher Eccleston playing Fagin that will lead the cast. With David Threlfall cast as the chief of police, Billy Jenkins as the one and only Dodger, and Saira Choudhry as Nancy.

Moreover, Aabay Ali, Ellie-May Sheridan, Lucy Montgomery, Frances Barber, and Rhys Thomas also make up the rest of the cast, and the series will be filming in Manchester in England.

The series, produced by NBC Universal International Studios, is a ten-part adventure that will air next year on CBBC and BBC iPlayer. The series is written by Rhys Thomas and Lucy Montgomery. Rhys Thomas also directs alongside Hildegard Ryan.

We will have to wait a bit to have more details on the release date and if some other actors are going to join the cast or not, but we will keep you posted.
