R&B legend and actress Brandy Nodwood has signed on to play one of the lead roles in an upcoming ABC drama entitled Queens.
The movie tells a story about four women in their 40s, who decided to reunite and bring back the fame and swag they had as 90s legendary hip-hop band Nasty B****es.
Brandy’s character, Naomi, who is better known as Xplicit Lyrics, is the core of the musical engine of the group. After their demise, Naomi hasn’t had the mainstream success she was hoping for as a solo artist, and ends up singing and playing her guitar in night bars where all the audiences want is her old rap persona.
The band then get back together and Naomi is reunited with the only man she ever loved, the man who was stolen from her by her rival bandmate. However, the only thing Naomi wants the most is to build a relationship with her daughter.
Brandy will join previously announced cast members Naturi Naughton, Eve and Pepi Songua. Apart from starring in the film, Brandy will also score original music for the upcoming show.
Queens is written and executive produced by Zahot McGhee, alongside with Sabrina Wind. Produced by ABC Signature, the pilot will be directed by Tim Story.
We congratulate Brandy on her new role and can’t wait till the release!
