Brazilian Latvian Songstress Laura Rizzotto Shares New Track ‘Papaya’

Los Angeles-based Brazilian Latvian singer and songwriter, Laura Rizzotto, has unveiled her latest single “Papaya”, infusing her music with her Brazilian roots and adding a touch of Bossa Nova flair to a catchy pop structure.

The single was brought to life in collaboration with multi-platinum Colombian producer Ali Stone and burgeoning talent, Mateo Barragan.

We really wanted ‘Papaya’ to feel like the musical embodiment of being on vacation in Rio, having breakfast in bed with your lover,” explained Rizzotto, known as the girl from Ipanema. “There’s such a warmth and genuine joy in Brazilian music. I was really excited to embrace my roots in this song and transport people to this tropical, romantic dream.”

“Papaya” was enhanced with the skills of award-winning Brazilian engineer Pedro Calloni, and includes both English and Spanish lyrics – a first for the Latvian/Brazilian artist.

The new single will also be released in Portuguese, further reflecting Rizzotto’s diverse cultural heritage. Remarkably, the recording even included sounds from the block where Rizzotto grew up in Ipanema, ensuring the song is deeply personal and evocative.

Laura Rizzotto, an award-winning singer-songwriter, first made her mark on the music scene at 17 when she released her self-written album, Made In Rio, with Universal Music Brazil.

Following this, she won a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College of Music and moved to the US to pursue an international career. Since then, the artist has released another album, along with an EP of her original songs, and has shared the stage with stars such as Demi Lovato, Colbie Caillat, and Rosanne Cash.

Having dual citizenship, Rizzotto also represented Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, the biggest music festival in the world, where she performed her original song “Funny Girl” to an audience of nearly 200 million viewers.

In 2019, she became the first artist to ever release a new song with a volumetric performance through her single “One More Night” on the Metastage app, making history in the process.

Now a voting member of the prestigious Recording Academy, known for the Grammy Awards, Rizzotto’s career is set to keep soaring. With the release of “Papaya”, she continues to blend her diverse influences into an unmistakably unique sound that continues to charm listeners worldwide.
