Bryan Cranston & Allison Janney To Star In ‘Everything’s Going To Be Great’

Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney are teaming up to star in Everything’s Going To Be Great, the new film from Scottish director Jon S. Baird (Stan & Ollie, Filth), who is collaborating with eOne and Astute Films for the project.

Plot details are sparse, but the film is being described as a valentine to big dreamers whose dreams won’t necessarily come true. It focuses on the Smart family, who move from one state to the next as they cope with loss and struggle with identity, all while performing in regional theater. The film reportedly focuses on themes of individuality vs. conformity and fantasy vs. reality.

Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (The Haunting of Bly Manor) and Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water) will also star in the film. Steven Rogers has written the screenplay. Filming will reportedly begin later this month in Toronto.

Baird is having a good year, having already released Apple film Tetris, a biographical drama based on the true story of how one man helped the game make its way to America during the Soviet War. The film has received good reviews and been given a far better reception than expected given people’s bemused reaction to its premise.

Cranston will next be seen as part of the ensemble in Wes Anderson‘s Asteroid City, which hits cinemas in June. He’s also got a role in Matthew Vaughn‘s upcoming spy film, Argylle.

Janney’s next role will be the lead in Gareth Edwards‘ sci-fi film True Love, while she’ll also star in Apple TV+’s upcoming series Mrs. American Pie.
