It has been on the grapevine for quite some time, but now it seems official that The CW are looking to create a Charmed reboot and Jennie Snyder Urman (the executive producer of Jane The Virgin) is rumoured to be behind the new concept behind the reboot. Working alongside Jennie Snyder Urman will be Jane The Virgin writers, Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin.
The new Charmed series will be set in 1976 and little of the details other than that seem clear so far in terms of the plot.
The original series (1998-2006) starred Shannen Doherty (Heathers, Beverly Hills 90210, Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back), Holly Marie Combs (Pretty Little Liars, Love’s Complicated, Mistresses), Alyssa Milano (Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later, Mistresses, Breaking In) and Rose McGowan (The Tell-Tale Heart, Once Upon A Time, Jawbreaker), and ran for eight seasons. However, the new series will consist of an entirely new cast.
The pilot episode will be produced and directed by Jane The Virgin director, Brad Silberling. The CW network is also working on other reboots such as The Lost Boys and Dynasty.
