Cynthia Erivo To Play The Blue Fairy In Disney’s ‘Pinocchio’ Live-Action Remake | Film News

 

Hollywood stars Cynthia Erivo and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have been confirmed to star in the new Disney live-action remake of Pinocchio.

 

Cynthia Erivo, who is famous for her role in the Oscar-nominated historical drama Harriet, is set to play the Blue Fairy and the Golden Globe nominated actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt will voice the iconic character Jiminy Cricket.

 

The main character of the story, Pinocchio, will be voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who previously starred in Flora and ulysses.

 

Luke Evans will also start in the new Disney+ movie as the Coachman, following his performance as the Beauty and the Beast villain Gaston in Disney’s 2017 live-action movie. The Pinoccchio remake will also star Tom Hanks himself, who is set to play Geppeto, according to Deadline.

 

Disney’s Pinocchio live action was first announced in December 2020 during Disney’s Investor Day. It is reported that the film will be written by Chris Weitz and Robert Zemekis and produced by Andrew Miamo and Weitz on behalf of their company Depth of Field.

 

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the remake will update the old classics for the modern audience with the aim of retelling the story of a living puppet earning to become a real human.

 

As a matter of fact, Pinocchio was first planned as a theatrical release, but then it has been confirmed as a Disney+ film, which will be heading straight to the streaming service, but the release date has not been announced yet.
