Dan Owen has revealed the video for his acoustic piano version of “Icarus“, the latest track to be taken from his upcoming debut album, out later this year through Atlantic Records. It follows Dan’s previous singles “Hideaway” and “Made To Love You” the latter of which has amassed over 10 million streams.
Released earlier this month, “Icarus” is a dark and hard-hitting tale on the perils of drug abuse and in this new acoustic version, all the fear, pain and emotion is purely amplified to truly pluck at the heartstrings.
The rich instrumentation of the original gives way to haunting solo piano, accentuating the raw power of Owen’s vocals and the dimmed lights and minimalistic approach in the visuals transform the track into an intimate and atmospheric account of despair and lamentation.
Receiving vast support from the likes of Radio 1, Virgin Radio and Radio 2, Dan is carrying that support with him as he is set to support Alice Merton and Joseph J. Jones as they embark on their respective European tours over the coming months, concluding with his headline show at London’s Jazz Café on May 29. In the meantime, peep the new video below.
