Get your tissues at the ready for a heart-wrenching farewell; as “the impossible girl” takes her last stand alongside the Doctor. Since actress Jenna Coleman confirmed she would bow out from the beloved BBC sitcom after landing a major ITV role as Queen Victoria, we’ve known that the end is nigh for Clara. She has played the Doctor’s companion since 2012 and has experienced two incarnations of the Time Lord.
Speaking to Nick Grimshaw on Radio 1’s Breakfast Show, Peter Capaldi, the current actor playing our favourite time traveller revealed that Clara’s farewell would be “sad over a number of weeks”. He then went on to add:
“I don’t want to go into what happens, because it’s very clever what happens in it, but it’s very sad,” he said. “You think what’s going to happen is going to happen, and then something else happens. That’s what’s wonderful about Doctor Who. It’s always clever the way these things are done. It’s not quite as straightforward as it appears. Get lots of hankies ready, that’s what I would say”.
In other words, prepare yourselves Whovians.
