Dutch Collective Sterlatone Share Their New Track ‘Fought An Angel’

Sterlatone, an Amsterdam-based ensemble established by composer and producer Ivo Witteveen and lyricist and singer Dylan Alling, has released “Fought An Angel”, the third song from their 21st Century Yacht Rock collection.

The band’s core members, Bastiaan Mulder on the guitar and Jeroen de Rijk on the percussion, contribute to the group’s diverse sound.

Their latest offering, recorded with former Amy Winehouse drummer Frank Tontoh, blends blue-eyed soul with early disco grooves. The song radiates an inviting Pacific Coast Highway feel, shaping up to be the soundtrack to the summer of 2023.

Assembled by Witteveen and Alling, the Sterlatone band boasts the talents of famed drummer Tontoh and sought-after bassist Mark Haanstra.

The rhythm section, marked by De Rijk’s captivating congas and shakers, is complemented by Mulder’s syncopated guitar riffs. This tight yet relaxed beat is taken to new heights by Jeroen Manuhutu‘s soaring background vocals and Alling’s powerful lead.

Every Sterlatone song is meticulously crafted, bridging the gap between a reverence for the craftsmanship of the previous century and the sonic impact of today.

With influences ranging from The Beatles to Beck, and Crowded House to Coldplay, their work embodies a rare balance between modern and timeless.
