Dwayne Johnson will play the leading role in a new HBO TV show titled Ballers which centers around current and ex-professional football players, starring as retired football player Spencer Strasmore. Johnson will also act as one of the shows executive producers alongside Hiram Garcia, Mark Wahlberg and Wahlberg’s manager Steve Levinson (Entourage, Boardwalk Empire) who co-wrote the pilot for Ballers. The show will be based in Miami.
Former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett, Omar Benson Miller, Donovan Carter, Jazmyn Simon, Taylor Cole, and David Washington will form the supporting cast for the upcoming TV show, which will feature characters such as a very spiritual football player, an ex-wife, a sports agent and financial adviser.
