Elliot Page To Star In Dominic Savage Film ‘Close To You’

Elliot Page will star in Close To You, the new film from BAFTA-winning writer-director Dominic Savage. The film also features Hillary Baack (Sound of Metal), and revolves around Sam, who has a chance encounter with an old friend on his way home to a dreaded family reunion that forces him to confront long-buried memories.

Savage and Page conceived and co-authored the story together, and are also producing the film alongside Krishnendu Majumdar and Richard Yee under their Me + You Productions, and Daniel Bekerman and Chris Yurkovich of Canada’s Good Question Media. Kindred Spirit is co-financing the project.

The film has actually recently wrapped production in Canada after being filmed under a little secrecy. Page said in a statement: “I’m proud to have worked with Dominic and Hillary on this beautiful film. It’s been a pleasure collaborating with them and the incredibly talented cast and crew. I look forward to sharing it with audiences soon.”

Savage, best known for his anthology series I Am…, added:

“It has been a remarkable experience to collaborate with Elliot Page on this very special and unique film about love, identity and family. I’m so proud of what we have achieved with the film. It has been an honor to work with Elliot to bring this very poignant, personal and important story to life and to the screen.”

Page currently stars in Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, which will wrap up soon with its fourth season. He just released his memoir Pageboy, and his production company of the same name recently wrapped production on queer cheerleading film, Backspot.
