Elton John Shares Six Rare Songs From ‘Elton: Jewel Box’ To Celebrate 74th Birthday | Music News

British music legend Elton John celebrated his 74th birthday on March 25, and for the occasion the singer has made 6 original songs from his Elton: Jewel Box album available on the streaming platforms.

The song “Scarecrow” is one of them. It was this track that marked the beginning of the legendary collaboration between the singer and his lyricist Bernie Taupin in 1967. “’Scarecrow’ will always have a very special place in my heart, and I know that Bernie feels the same way too. It’s the song that started it all,” John said in a press release.

“This last year in lockdown has given us all time to look back and reflect — finding this song again when I put together the Jewel Box and thinking of everything that has happened in our careers and friendships that has sprouted from this one point is just remarkable”, he added.

He also made “Holiday Inn”, “Keep It A Mystery”, “Smokestack Children”, “Two Of A Kind” and “Conquer The Sun” available for streaming audiences. These 6 songs have been added to the streaming version of his Jewel Box album – a 9-CD offering that tracks all the songs written between 1965 and 2019 by the singer that have received little attention.

Those are rare songs that are not even performed at his concerts anymore, which is a nice present from Sir Elton John for his own birthday! Check them out below!
