Emilia Clarke Solves ‘Game Of Thrones’ Coffee Cup Mystery | TV News

The biggest mystery of the final series of Game of Thrones has finally been solved and we are talking neither about who would take the Iron Throne nor about the untold truth of the Night King. Indeed, we are referring to the famous modern day coffee cup that was spotted during a fest scene in Winterfell in the episode The Last of the Starks.

In particular, Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen, revealed which cast member left the cup in the series set, while on the Tonight With Jimmy Fallon show on Wednesday. The actress has often been considered the culprit of the gaffe, which made headlines around the world, since, in the episode, she appears sitting right beside the cup.

Clarke explained that the person responsible is actually Lord Varys actor Conleth Hill, who confessed the “crime” right before the Emmys: “We had a party before the Emmys recently and Conleth, who plays Varys, whose sitting next to me in that scene, he pulls me aside and he’s like, ‘Emilia, I have got to tell you something, love. The coffee cup was mine’.” Emilia Clarke said.

She continued: “It was his! It was Conleth’s coffee cup. He said so. He said, ‘I think it was, I am sorry, darling, I didn’t want to say anything because it seemed the heat was very much on you’.”

The fact that the “cup mystery” has been such a central topic in the general discussion around the final series of Game of Thrones may hint at how disappointing the season was. However, following the 1.7 million people led petition, which called on the writers to remake the season, a new prequel is set to be produced very soon.
