Emma Stone & Ralph Fiennes Set To Star In Alexander Payne’s ‘The Menu’ | Film News

Emma Stone and Ralph Fiennes are being eyed to star in Alexander Payne‘s next movie, The Menu, per Collider. Will Tracy and Seth Reiss have written the script, while Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Betsy Koch will produce via their Gary Sanchez banner.

The film sounds a bit out of left field compared to Payne’s usual projects. It’s reportedly a comedic horror-thriller set in the world of high-end culinary culture, and revolves around a young couple who travel to a remote island to attend an exclusive restaurant. An acclaimed chef resides there, and has prepared a lavish menu with some surprises.

Fiennes will reportedly play the chef, with Stone poised to play one half of the couple. Stone is coming off another Oscar nomination for The Favourite, and will next reprise her original role in Zombieland: Double Tap. Fiennes directed and starred in The White Crow, which hits cinemas at the end of the month, while he will spend the summer shooting Bond 25.

Bringing the two of them together should be a fun pairing. Payne usually excels at his excellent dramedys such as Sideways, Nebraska, and Election. However, his last film was the disappointing Downsizing, so maybe he’s looking to try something different in an attempt to bounce back.

More details regarding The Menu have yet to be served up. This has all the makings of an interesting project though. What can Payne – a multiple Oscar winner himself – create with this delicious premise?
