British actor, activist and model Emma Watson has launched a free legal advice line service, backed up by Time’s Up UK, to help other women fighting back against workplace harassment.
Emma Watson’s popularity arrived when she was only nine years all, after she made her appearance in the Harry Potter film series playing the role of Hermione Granger, but her never-ending list of accomplishments after the last film came out is what has kept her into the spotlight.
Keeping a successful career in the acting, modelling and politics fields, Watson has become one of the youngest, most inspirational famous women worldwide. Fighting for equality and against injustice, the actor has been using her power and influence to empower other women to stand up and join the global movement for gender equality for years.
Back in 2014, Watson started working as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and she has been using the platform to help other women and spread the feminism movement ever since. Now, the actor has launched this legal advice line for everyone who experiences sexual harassment at work in the UK.
“It finally feels like people are realising the scale of the problem, and I’m certainly hopeful that with global standards such as the recent International Labour Organisation treaty on harassment at work we’ll start to see a new climate of prevention and accountability on this issue domestically,” Watson said about the new service offered.
The advice line is provided by a charity called Rights of Women, which works hard to help women understand their rights at their workplace. Watson has been trying to raise awareness between women about the importance of “Understanding what your rights are, how you can assert them, and the choices you have if you’ve experienced harassment”, as it is “such a vital part of creating safe workplaces for everyone”.
Cheers to Emma for being such an strong, empowering and inspiring woman!
