First Trailer For ‘Scoob!’ Gives Us A Glimpse Of Shaggy & Scooby Origin Story | Film Trailer

Warner Bros. has dropped the first trailer for Scoob!, the upcoming animated update of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? The original show ran from just 1969 to 1970, but ingrained itself into pop culture. However, rarely has the Scooby-Doo franchise delved into the pasts of its characters. This film introduces us to child versions of the whole gang, before promising typical mystery hijinks.

The trailer is undeniably charming, and the film will probably make a bevy of money for a number of reasons. Judging by this brief clip, it seems the film can’t quite decide what it wants to be. An origin story? A sci-fi adventure? Or just a modern update of the classic show?

It looks good enough that it will be able to juggle all of those things, but we’ll see what takes precedence in the actual movie. The origin stuff that’s so heavy in the trailer might just be a 5 minute prologue, for example.

WB has certainly brought out the big guns for this. Zac Efron voices Fred, Will Forte is Shaggy, Amanda Seyfried is Daphne, and Gina Rodriguez is Velma. And if that Scooby voice sounds familiar to you, it’s because he’s voiced by the longtime voice of Scooby-Doo, Frank Welker. He has actually voiced Fred since 1969, but has voiced the great dane since 2002.

Scoob! hits cinemas May 15, 2020.
