Guy Pearce has signed on to star in The Seventh Day. Fortunately, it’s not a sequel to the sci-fi Schwarzenegger movie, The 6th Day. Instead, it’s a horror film that’s being described as The Exorcist meets Training Day. Writer-director Justin P. Lange (The Dark) will helm the project, while Fangoria will produce.
Pearce’s exact role in the film is being kept under wraps for now, but it’s expected that the film will be a bit of a two-hander following a veteran exorcist walking a rookie priest through his first day. Pearce will probably play the veteran. As the two plunge deeper into hell on earth, the lines between good and evil blur, and their own demons emerge. Lange himself described the idea behind the film:
“This is a story about the rising spread of a pervasive evil. We live in an increasingly dark world, one where it’s difficult to know who to trust, or what to believe. It’s a scary time, and scary times call for scary movies”. He called Pearce: “An extraordinary talent. That rare combination of bona fide movie star and consummate artist. I can’t wait for audiences to see what he has in store for them with this role”.
The search for Pearce’s co-star has likely already begun. The Seventh Day doesn’t currently have a release date.
