Hailee Steinfeld To Play Emily Dickinson In New Apple Comedy Series | TV News
Pop sensation and Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfield will star as Emily Dickinson in the newly ordered Apple series about the American author, well-known for her figurative poetry. Steinfeld, who recently starred in Edge of Seventeen and the Pitch Perfect franchise, earned her Oscar nomination when she was only 14 for her performance in True Grit and has since then pivoted to singing hit songs like “Love Myself“.
Set in the 1800s, Dickinson will focus on the notoriously reclusive poet’s coming-of-age story, with a modern sensibility and tone.
Described as “one woman’s fight to get her voice heard“, the half-hour comedy series will reportedly “explore the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of a budding writer who doesn’t fit in to her own time through her imaginative point of view“.
