HBO Max is an American streaming service which launched in the summer of 2020. Since its launch it has garnered 12.6 million active subscribers and has acquired the streaming rights to classic shows such as Friends and The Big Bang Theory.

With future shows by BBC Studios co-produced by HBO Max and a never ending list of original series and movies being added to the platform, it is likely that this number will steadily increase.

HBO Max have released their epic line up through to the grand year of 2022. We see clips from The Nevers, Mare Of Easttown, Wonder Woman 1984, The Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, a new special episode of Euphoria, a docuseries by Nicki Minaj and the Gossip Girl reboot among others.

It is of interest that HBO Max acquired the streaming rights for Friends back in 2019 as in the recent video we see a glimpse that indicates that a Friends reunion special is on its way.

The original version of Gossip Girl was broadcast on THE CW back in 2007, now nearly 10 years after the finale of season 6 we are brought back into the Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) universe however on a very different platform HBO Max.

Besides the network change we can also imagine a revamped world with up to date technology such as the latest iPhones instead of those Blueberry phones back in the day. What will stay consistent for sure is that the cast will be influenced by the newest fashion trends.

We can see from around 38 seconds into the video, that a new group of private school students will be the lead cast in this teenage drama tv show. Although only new cast are shown, let’s not eliminate any surprise cameos from the previous tadpole of students.

Josh Safran who worked on the original series mentioned that there will be references to the original characters. We will likely get references to our favourites such as actress Blake Lively who played Serena Van der Woodsen and Dan Humphrey played by Penn Badgley whose recent work involves playing the lead role in the show You with guest star Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars).

One cast member though that will be reprising her role as narrator for the new series is Kristen Bell (The Good Place), it would be very interesting if every cast member narrated a different episode.

The clip mentioned above not only showcases the students sitting on the iconic school steps, but also walking out of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in the upper east side. Who knows what went down, but I’m sure we will find out when the tv show premieres in 2021 if everything goes to plan.

The new Gossip Girl series will star Emily Alyn Lind (The Babysitter, Doctor Sleep, Whitney Peak (Molly’s Game), Eli Brown (Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists), Johnathan Fernandez (Lethal Weapon), Jason Gotay (Love Life) and Tavi Gevinson (Scream Queens, Neo Yokio).

Thomas Doherty (Descendants 2, Legacies) Adam Chanler-Berat (Delivery Man), Zión Moreno (Control Z, K-12), newcomer Savannah Smith, Jordan Alexander (Sacred Lies, Unbury the Biscuit), model and skater Evan Mock who has modeled for Louis Vuitton, and Laura Benanti (Supergirl, Nashville) also star in the series.
