It’s official, How I Met Your Mother is getting a sequel! And it will be called How I Met Your Father, it has been ordered by Hulu.
The upcoming series will star actress Hilary Duff, known for her role in Lizzie McGuire for Disney.
She will play Sophie, who will tell her son how she met his father. The story is set in 2021 where Sophie and her group of friends discover who they are, and who they want in life.
How I Met Your Father is created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, as well as How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas – they will all serve as executive producers with Aptaker and Berger writing the script.
Actress Hilary Duff told Variety about the sequel, “I’ve been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of Sophie. As a huge fan of ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby”/
How I Met Your Mother had been wildly successful with more than nine seasons and over 200 episodes from 2005 to 2014 airing on CBS. One thing is for sure, How I Met Your Mother fans can’t wait to see what the sequel will be!
