Isabel Marant Accused Of Plagiarism | Fashion News

French designer Isabel Marant this week faced a storm of accusations that she had plagiarized traditional Mexican designs. For her fusion line Isabel Marant Etoile Spring/Summer 2015 Collection, the French fashion house has been accused of stealing patterns from the Mixe community in Santa Maria Tlahuitoltepec, Oaxaca. In a statement released by the community, Marant has plagiarized “a design which has transcended borders, and is not a novel creation as is affirmed by the designer“, Marant however refutes these claims, with a statement from the eponymous label reading “Ms Isabel Marant does not claim to be the author of this tunic and these designs“.
