Jessica Alba To Star In Netflix Movie ‘Trigger Warning’ | Film News

Netflix found huge success with last month’s action movie Extraction. The Chris Hemsworth starrer became the streamer’s most watched original movie, and although those numbers are debatable, it hasn’t stopped the platform commissioning another action movie in its wake.

Jessica Alba has signed on to star in Trigger Warning. Mouly Surya (Marlina The Murderer In Four Acts) will direct from a script by Josh Olson and John Brancato.

Alba will play a traumatised veteran who inherits her grandfather’s bar, only to be faced with a moral dilemma after discovering the truth behind his untimely death.

Netflix, naturally, sees this as a potential franchise, which is something they’ve been focusing on with similar recent films. They’ve already hired Joe Russo to write an Extraction sequel, and brought Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me) on board to direct Bright 2.

Alba broke out in the mid-2000s with roles in Sin City and Fantastic Four, and has recently been starring alongside Gabrielle Union in the Bad Boys spinoff LA’s Finest. She’s also on board to host the upcoming Disney+ documentary series Parenting Without Borders.

Netflix has had a big couple of weeks, securing Reese Witherspoon for two romcoms, Mark Wahlberg for spy movie Our Man From Jersey, and Cate Blanchett coming on board to join Jennifer Lawrence in Adam McKay‘s sci-fi satire Don’t Look Up.

Don’t expect Trigger Warning to be the last action movie Netflix gives the green light to, as they consistently lead to big numbers. Alba hasn’t been the lead in many movies in recent years, but if Trigger Warning has the kind of success Extraction had, that will no longer be the case.
