Julianne Moore & Sydney Sweeney To Star In New Apple Film From ‘Mare Of Easttown’ Creator

Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney are teaming up to star in a new film titled Echo Valley from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby that will be exclusive to Apple TV+.

The film will see Moore play Kate Garrett, a woman reeling from a personal tragedy who spends her days boarding and training horses on the secluded and picturesque Echo Valley Farm. Late one night, her wayward daughter Claire arrives at her doorstep, frightened, trembling and covered in someone else’s blood. How far a mother will go to save her child?

BAFTA Award-winner Michael Pearce (Beast) will direct from Ingelsby’s script, which he developed alongside Michael Pruss of Scott Free, who are producing the project alongside Kevin Walsh for The Walsh Company (Manchester By The Sea, House of Gucci) under his multi-year Apple TV+ producing deal.

Ingelsby’s Mare of Easttown was a big 2020 hit for HBO, netting 16 Emmy nominations and quickly becoming well known for star Kate Winslet‘s unusual and difficult Delco accent, a version of Philadelphia English common in Delaware County. No word if Moore or Sweeney will attempt accents in Echo Valley.

Echo Valley is just the latest buzzy original film in the works at Apple. Other projects include upcoming Martin ScorseseLeonardo DiCaprio film Killers of the Flower Moon.

Apple are also working on The Instigators from Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, and director Doug Liman, an untitled Jon Watts thriller with George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and Ridley Scott and Joaquin Phoenix‘s Napoleon.

This also marks the third Apple project for Moore, who previously starred in the series adaptation of Stephen King‘s Lisey’s Story and earlier this year was seen in crime caper Sharper.

Sweeney’s star has only grown since he breakout role on Euphoria, and she has plenty of irons in the fire. They include superhero film Madame Web, drama film Reality, crime thriller Americana, and horror film Immaculate.

Production on Echo Valley is expected to begin this summer.
