Karen Walker Unveils Bespoke Modern Bridal Collection | Fashion News
New Zealand designer Karen Walker has launched her first ever collection of wedding dresses and rings.
“We had countless customers over the years asking us if we’ll create something for them and we’ve never done it” said Walker about the bridal collection. The long-awaited line is destined for modern brides and consists of twelve mini dresses and gowns, as well as two trouser suits. The items are available online and in a newly opened bridal store in Karen’s boutique in Auckland.
The prices range from $950 to $3,000 and include a direct consultation with the designer in person or via mail or phone call. To create the perfect wedding attire, customers can work with Karen’s team online or in her atelier.
In the past 12 months, Karen Walker has already offered such services to several high-profile customers, including Michelle Obama. The designer said that gave her team “the confidence that now is the right time to create this [wedding]range because we wanted it to be made especially for the client”.
Apart from bespoke dresses, the collection also includes fourteen bands and rings made of white, rose and yellow gold. They use eight different precious and semi-precious stones, such as champagne diamonds, black diamonds, peach morganite and grey moonstone. The jewellery too is bespoke, which allows the customers to create their own unique pieces.
